Cyberattacks on UK businesses increased by 38% in 2023, with the average cost of a data breach for a UK SME reaching £3.4 million. From ransomware and phishing to supply chain attacks and insider threats, the landscape is more dangerous than ever. Task Masters provides enterprise-grade cybersecurity — detecting threats before they strike, responding when they do, and keeping you compliant with UK and international regulations.
Simulated real-world attacks on your web applications, internal networks, cloud environments, and physical premises. Our CREST-certified testers use the same tools and techniques as sophisticated attackers, delivering detailed reports with risk ratings, proof-of-concept evidence, and actionable remediation steps.
Continuous monitoring of your network, endpoints, servers, and cloud environments from our Security Operations Centre (SOC). Our analysts and SIEM-powered automation detect threats in real time, with a median alert-to-response time under 15 minutes — minimising dwell time and damage from active intrusions.
Advanced EDR (Endpoint Detection and Response) protection for every device in your organisation — laptops, mobile devices, servers, and IoT equipment. Zero-trust policies, device compliance enforcement, and automated threat response ensure nothing slips through, even for remote and hybrid workforces.
When a breach occurs, every minute counts. Our 24/7 incident response team contains threats immediately, preserves forensic evidence, eradicates malware, and restores operations with minimal downtime. We also manage ICO breach notification requirements and post-incident reviews to prevent recurrence.
Comprehensive assessments against GDPR, ISO 27001, Cyber Essentials, Cyber Essentials Plus, and PCI DSS frameworks. We identify gaps, provide prioritised remediation roadmaps, and guide you through the full certification process with our proven 100% first-attempt pass rate.
Enterprise-grade firewall management, secure VPN configuration, intrusion detection and prevention systems (IDS/IPS), network segmentation, and Wi-Fi security hardening. We prevent lateral movement by attackers and ensure your network perimeter is resilient against modern threats.

The NCSC's 2024 Cyber Security Breaches Survey found that 50% of UK businesses experienced a cyberattack or breach in the past 12 months. For medium and large businesses, this figure rises to 70% and 74% respectively. Phishing remains the most common attack vector at 84% of breaches, followed by impersonation attacks at 35% and malware at 17%. Ransomware caused an average of 21 days of downtime per incident in 2023.
What has changed significantly in recent years is the sophistication and automation of attacks. Cybercriminals now use AI-powered tools to craft highly convincing phishing emails, automate vulnerability scanning, and move through compromised networks at machine speed. The window between an attacker gaining initial access and encrypting data has shrunk from days to hours. This makes 24/7 monitoring and rapid response more critical than ever.
The regulatory environment adds another dimension of risk. GDPR requires organisations to notify the ICO within 72 hours of discovering a personal data breach, with fines of up to £17.5 million or 4% of global annual turnover for serious violations. Getting cybersecurity right is not just about protecting your data — it is about avoiding potentially company-ending regulatory consequences.
Our CREST-certified security engineers work exclusively with UK businesses, understanding the specific threat landscape, regulatory environment, and compliance requirements you face every day.
A 30-partner London law firm on Task Masters' managed security service experienced a ransomware attack at 02:14 on a Tuesday morning. The attack entered via a phishing email opened by a partner, and the malware began encrypting network shares and attempting lateral movement to the firm's case management server.
Our SOC detected the anomalous encryption activity within 4 minutes of execution. We immediately isolated the affected workstation, blocked the attacker's command-and-control domains at the firewall, and triggered the firm's incident response plan. We assessed the blast radius, confirmed the case management server was unaffected, and began restoration from clean backup.
The attack was fully contained within 47 minutes. Only one workstation was encrypted — the attacker never reached client data or the case management system. The firm was fully operational by 06:30, well before business hours. The ICO was notified within the 72-hour window with full documentation. Post-incident controls blocked 3 subsequent phishing attempts targeting the firm.
A Yorkshire precision engineering firm had won a preferred supplier position with a government defence contractor, but the contract required Cyber Essentials Plus certification as a condition of award. The firm had no existing security programme and had 6 weeks to achieve certification.
Task Masters conducted a rapid gap assessment, implemented multi-factor authentication across all accounts, configured centralised patch management, hardened firewall rules, deployed mobile device management, and addressed 23 identified vulnerabilities across 85 endpoints. We conducted a mock assessment before submitting for formal certification.
Cyber Essentials Plus certification was achieved in 5 weeks — one week ahead of deadline. The firm secured the £2.3 million government contract. Cyber insurance premium fell by 22% following certification. The board used the programme as a foundation for a broader security programme that has since expanded to ISO 27001 scope.
